Who are EYECAN?

We are two visually impaired individuals, both who want to have a future and make our own way in life and not be reliant on benefits.  Following investigation and through previous employment we set up EYECAN to run with the aims and objectives comparable to a social enterprise.

With a commitment to bring information and training to both visually impaired and sighted people and with a goal to make lives a little more harmonious.  We are able to deliver a comprehensive package of services including Braille & Moon transcription teaching together with advice on ways of communication through accessible telephones, e:mail and the like.  As well as advising prospective employers and agencies on how best to introduce visually impaired individuals into the work place and their communities.  Our database enables us access to a wide range of services and expertise from many other organisations and individuals that work for, and with people who have a visual impairment.

Together we have a wealth of experience of living with a visual impairment from personal experiences, mentors and friends; and have undertaken many types of voluntary roles as well as paid employment for a number of years now and are confident to be at a stage where we believe we can deliver this package to a high standard.

The roles we have undertaken cover administration, teaching, project development, mechanical engineering and both craft and social activities.  We hope by spending time with your staff and clients we will bring some understanding of some of the challenges visually impaired people encounter each day as well as bringing encouragement to others.
