Perkins braillers
What is a Perkins?
It is the most commonly used machine used for the production of Braille.
Most of the people that read and write Braille will have either used or read Braille that was produced on a Perkins.
These are robust well made machines that go on for years.
They how ever need servicing and repairs.
Alan at EYECAN has been on a short course that introduced him to the theory and some practical tasks related to the servicing and adjustments required to make your Perkins work sweetly.
Braillers that are not working correctly will cause other more complex and expensive repairs, if not attended to at the earliest opportunity.
Alan is hoping to gain more experience of this type of work, by offering his services at a small charge.
The work that he will be happy to under take is basic servicing and minor adjustments, in his own work shop.
Any advanced repairs if found while under taking this work he will contact you with his diagnosis and will make arrangements to send it to the main servicing department of the RNIB where Alan may take it along to gain further training.
It would help with your servicing and repair if you could include a short note stating what difficulties you are having with your machine.
For any queries regarding the servicing of your Perkins please contact him at.
